Choosing Color

I started looking at different gift boxes for color inspirations.

Pink and Red hues stand out in this context. After exploring colors, and getting feedback, I finalized on:

Raspberry #F42A6D

• Has a premium feel.
• It gives off just the right amount of warmth.
• Feedback was positive

But, It does not satisfy WCAG for contrast

I used Material Design 3 as a base design system. Right off the bat, it was not what I expected:

• The key color you provide, M3 is not what the “primary” color turns out to be.
• M3 tries to follow WCAG contrast guidelines to the T. But I noticed a lot of brands need to follow it. So I decided to make the tradeoff to use Raspberry as my brand color but use the “primary” color generated by M3 as a gradient wherever possible.

Naples Yellow #FFE262

The Yellow gives a “fun, energetic, bubbly” vibe.

This was plugged into the M3 plugin in Figma as the secondary key color. M3 also generated the:

• Off-whites for background and surfaces
• The shadows needed for elevation
• Grays for text, icons, and any lines

Choosing Typeface

The most important characteristic I was looking for was a Sans serif with rounded corners/ edges.

This would give a friendly, approachable vibe.
