Choosing Color

Inspiration - Took inspiration from competitor’s brands. Eliminated hues of red because red can clash with the error states and induce anxiety in some people to take action faster.

So, I chose to stay closer to the blue hues, which makes more sense on a digital product.

Darker shade → feels heavy + helps give it contrast to the white backgrounds.

White backgrounds → give the user a feeling of transparency in a financial application.

Choosing Typeface

Sans-serif fonts are preferred for mobile apps due to better readability, modern aesthetic, and efficient use of screen space.

A bunch of fonts was brought out on digital screens and tested with real users asking them which one they preferred with emphasis on “typeface distraction.” I wanted to choose typefaces that look sturdy with very little personality, drawing attention to content rather than the typeface.

Rubik - Thick letterforms but slightly rounded corners

Avenir - Legible and works for functional copies.
